Finding inspiration close to home

My 8 year old son is currently obsessed with Axolotls, so I created these designs and made him a pillowcase and reversible duvet cover. He loves them and it brings me such joy to snuggle him up at night in something I created from start to finish, and made with love. Plus I’m thrilled to have successfully made my first duvet cover!

Part of my son’s interest means that we’ve learnt a few facts about these weird and wonderful creatures. For example Axolotls are amphibians but they don’t grow out of their aquatic phase. They spend their adult life in the water. I was amazed to learn that they can regenerate lost limbs and gills. In the wild Axolotls can only be found in fresh water lakes and canals near Mexico City. Sadly they are critically endangered in their natural habitat.

By the way, baby axolotls are super cute!
